On February 23, 2009, the Jordan Physics Department made their 24th annual trek to the mountains to study physics on the ski slopes. They left at 4:30 am and traveled to Wintergreen Resort north of Lynchburg, Virginia, and arrived at 8:00 in morning for a day of skiing and physics experimentation. Although it was extremely cold – the 2nd coldest of their 24 trips with the snow blowers running all day – everything went well.
“We had no injuries except for a few bruises from falling on the slopes,” says physics teacher, David Green. “The pictures represent our short mid-afternoon ski stoppage to do two small experiments. The skier in blue was our volunteer skier for the experiments, Erin Stewart,” explains Mr. Green.
