Sign up for Driver’s Education is this week. Students will sign up in room 112 with Mr. Aharon in the morning before school from 7:00 to 7:20. 

The Jordan Chorus Department will present their fall show tonight and Saturday at 7:30PM.  Please come out to support the choral department.  Tickets are $7.00 for the general public and DPS employees may enter free of charge. 

The Chorus Department will be selling Holiday Poinsettias until November 23^rd.  The types available are Red, White, Pink, Jingle Bells, Marble and Winter Rose.  We will sell a 6.5 inch poinsettia for $10.00, an 8 inch poinsettia for $15.00 and a poinsettia bush for $27.00.  Please see Ms. Doyle or a chorus member to secure your poinsettia plant for the holidays.

The National Honor Society is offering afterschool tutoring every Thursday in room 125 from 2:45 to 3:45.

The Saturday Learning Center will be offering help with math skills in Algebra I, Geometry, Pre-Calculus and Algebra II.  Saturday Learning Center dates are:  October 31^st, November 7^th, November 21^st, December 5^th, and December 12^th.  Students may register on site.

GUIDANCE/STUDENT SERVICES NEWS: 

Attention Seniors:  An admissions counselor from Durham Tech Community College will visit Jordan on Tuesday, December 1^st, at 9:45.  The presenter will discuss the admissions process and the various course offerings offered at the school.  Please sign up in the Guidance Office, with Ms. Johnson, prior to the Thanksgiving Break if you would like to attend this informative presentation. 

All North Carolina community colleges and many private colleges will waive application fees during College Application Week this week, November 16^th thru 20^th.  Students are able to apply online at any time during the week on the www.CFNC.org website. 

A representative from the United States Military Academy at West Point will be at Jordan High School on Monday, November 23^rd.  Please sign up with Ms. Johnson in the Guidance Office.

Junior and Senior students interested in taking the best career assessment out there can see Mrs. Ayers in the Guidance Office to take the ASVAB test on Wednesday, December 2^nd.   

Grandparents Support Group Meeting - Grandparents who are raising their grandchildren or who are offering support to help raise their grandchildren are invited to attend support and education group meetings the second Thursday of each month from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at the DPS Staff Development Center, 2107 Hillandale Road. The sessions are sponsored by Durham County Cooperative Extension in partnership with Durham Public Schools.  Future sessions will be held November 12 and December 11. To attend, call Peggy Kernodle at 560-0523 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
